13 & 18-FEB-2009 Lehigh Railway 2304 in Athens, PA
Most people know, or probably have heard and didn't care, that I live in Athens, PA. For eight of the years I lived here CR and then NS ran a nearly daily freight to Mehoopany. This changed with the creation of the Lehigh Railway, a shortline that serves the rail between Athens and Mehoopany now. First time I caught the 'new' U23B's was on the 13th, a vivid sunny day. This was roughly the first week with new operators.
Five days later and in the middle of near whiteout conditions I caught them again as they crossed the bridge in front of my house.
Oddly enough- I haven't managed to see them with a camera in my hands since. Partly their infrequent runs, and partly my being at work when they inevitably do show.
